An actual example of the size of DataDotsDataDotDataDots are small identifiers used to protect consumable assets through positively identifying the item. Each DataDot is made from a polyester based material and is approximately 1 mm in diameter and 1 micron thick making it virtually invisible to the naked eye.

Each DataDot can be laser etched with one of the following:

  • Personal Identification Number (PIN) A personalized number that is registered to the user.
  • Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) The legal identification number provided on all vehicles.
  • Hull Identification Number (HIN) The legal identification number provided on all boats.
  • Company Name A legal company name.
  • Drivers License Number A legal drivers licenses number including the state of issue.

After the etching process has occurred, each DataDot is chemically processed to control aging and fading.

Ag Program- TractorIndustry experts agree that the theft of Ag and Construction equipment is on the rise. Although it’s difficult to know an exact number, the total value of equipment stolen annually ranges between $ 300 million and $ 1 billion.

This doesn’t even take into account monetary losses from business interruptions, project delay penalties, wasted workforce and management time. All indicators are that equipment theft is on the rise in the US. The approximate 5,000 thefts reported to the NER only represent 25 percent of all thefts, not including theft of hand tools.
